The file, "Kitty Litter Trash Icon" contains resources to change the trash icon into a cat's litter box. If the trash icon is offensive to your delicate sense of aesthetics (who ever heard of a "fat" trash can?) then you'll love this trash can replacement. Kitty sits behind his litter box, smiling at you, until you throw something away. When you put something in the trash, Kitty disappears, leaving you with a smelly litter box that needs to be dumped. When you dump Kitty's litter, he returns, happy that his litter box is clean.
To install Kitty Litter, you will need to use Resedit. Open the file, "Kitty Litter Trash Icon" with Resedit and select all three resources (ICN#, STR#, and MENU) by holding the shift key down while clicking on each of them. Choose "Copy" from the edit menu to copy the resources to the clipboard. Open your Finder file, in your system folder, and choose "Paste" from the edit menu. Quit Resedit and when it ask you if you want to save changes to the Finder, answer yes. As always, you should probably do this to a copy of the Finder, in the rare even that something goes wrong (that darn cat!).
You can also use Resedit to modify the appearance of Kitty or change his name on the litter box, if you know how.
You'll find kitty, or his smelly litter box, after you quit Resedit. You'll also notice that the Trash is now named "Kitty Litter" and the menu command for emptying the trash is now, "Dump Kitty Litter."
Kitty Litter trash icon is dedicated to "Kitty" (the cat without a name) who was hit by a car and killed in July, 1990, in Ithaca, NY. He was a good cat.
